 With the COVID-19 Pandemic devastating most aspects of the economy, Congress enacted the $2 trillion CARES Act which is having a dramatic impact on mortgage servicing. This session will explore the impact of the moratoria on the industry as well as what litigation we can expect to see resulting from the Act. The panelists will discuss new causes of action as well as strategies for avoiding litigation resulting from the Pandemic.

Compliance and Ethical Considerations in a COVID-19 Environment This session will examine the compliance and ethical challenges that will be facing the default servicing industry as moratoria and shelter in place orders are modified and/or begin to expire. We will review not only defaults that were already in place when the orders commenced, but also post order defaults, as well as ongoing and new eviction issues. There will be a myriad of new communication and privacy issues, litigation strategies, as well as timeline impacts and management as files come off hold. The panel will delve into these issues along with the legal ethical issues that are presented as a result.

Consumer Protection in the COVID-19 (and Post COVID-19) Environment This session will feature Prof. Judith Fox from the University of Notre Dame School of Law, who teaches and practices consumer law, and runs the Economic Justice Clinic. Prof. Fox will address changes and trends in consumer law, updates and challenges of loss mitigation and  forbearance in a COVID-19 and post-COVID-19 environment, the Cares Act, and the impacts on statutes of limitations. This panel will also cover best practices and strategies to minimize risk.

120 Days Later - The Past, Present and Future Outlook of Bankruptcy COVID-19 began in the late fall in the United States, but the economic impacts and unemployment spikes started in March of 2020. Join us as our esteemed panelists look back at how the CARES Act reshaped some of the facets of Bankruptcy, how our current climate is shaping the way we practice, and discuss possible impacts and implications on the next few months of our practice. Registrations will not be processed without full payment. Payment online must be made by major credit card only. 

Cancellations/Refunds
All requests for cancellations/refunds must be made in writing to register@usfn.org by 5 p.m. CT on May 20, 2020. Cancellations received on/prior to May 20, 2020, will receive a full refund minus a 10%/$100 administrative fee, whichever is greater in the manner originally paid. After May 20, 2020, no refunds will be granted. USFN regrets that refunds will not be given for no-shows. Exceptions for extraordinary events (e.g., medical emergencies) must be submitted in writing to pdonahoo@usfn.org by the registrant with appropriate documentation.

Substitutions
Substituting a colleague within the same organization is gladly accepted at no charge. All requests for registration substitutions must be made in writing to register@usfn.org by 5 p.m. CT on May 20, 2020. Only one substitution is permitted per original registrant. The individual submitting the substitution request is responsible for all financial obligations (any balance due) associated with that substitution. Badge sharing (two people attending an event using only one registration), badge splitting (one registration being split by two people; commonly one attending in the morning and the other attending in the afternoon), and badge reprints are strictly prohibited.
